I am getting all these mailers and newspaper ads…Today and Tomorrow are the last days you can buy from my online store. Sunday night I am shutting down for the Christmas holidays. You won’t get Christmas delivery on books at this late date.
Today is the last shopping day at my Flee Market store here in Lake City. I am inside out of the cold and wind.. Come in and look around I have lots of new stock going in today.I will be open next week. I will be away have helpers looking out for my store.

There are allot of things going on today.. I need to do laundry, get the last of the things ready and in the car to be transported to my sister-in-laws house for a yard sale tomorrow… Most important I need to start making phone calls to find a place to deliver a oxygen machine with breathing treatments for my Mom. Doctors office doesn’t seem to be able to find a place to take her insurance. Sense doctors office is in a different town a half hour away from us maybe I can have better luck… Cross your fingers and toes…
I have been having pain in my arms again.. the meds they gave me when I fell seem to take the edge off of it… I don’t think the doctor will fill this… So will have to find another way to take care of this….I hate taking pain meds and I am finding I have a terrible tolerance to pain.. And I thought I was so good at it… I think its my arthritis and being a heavy person does not help..I know this … I wish I was taller then my fat would have more places to hide… I need to get out and walk with my neighbors… The only excuse I have is they are so ahead of me I would keep them back.. I could get out and ride my bike and I have no excuse for not doing that… I will start today… after dinner… that is when I use to ride… I am making myself a promise… If anyone wants to ride or walk with me just let me know, we can even do it long distance by phone… LOL….
I am going to my daughters after the holidays I can’t decide if I want to fly or drive… no one but me wants me to drive…I would love it if my youngest daughter would drive one way with me and fly home… We might even be able to pick up my friend on the way. That would be fun. Then my cousin is coming to Florida for the winter and is going to rent a car. Maybe her family can drive her to my daughters house and she can drive home with me… So when I leave my friend off I will still have someone to drive with. I would love it if she decided to find a place not so far from us..I would have someone to hang out with… This year I think I will make a couple of trips over to my sister-in-laws to visit with out my husband… That is my thoughts for now .. She and husband live and hour from us…We have always thought we could hang out together.. but when I got rid of my other car that was not possible now that I have another car it might be..It will give me a little more freedom not that I need to get away from anyone here.. Its just nice to be with another woman and just have fun….
I have been thinking of making me an old fashioned dress apron to wear at the flee market I have lots of Holiday material and it would be fun to have one for the holidays and one for after… I am getting in the making spirit again.. Have not been there for a long time… Making gifts for the girls and they are coming out pretty good.. My biggest problem is the tying off … I hope I am doing it right.. We will see when the girls start using there gifts… They are making up so fast I might even make me some for when I go to my daughters…
My book store on line has been real slow… I have not added anything to it in a while… have over 1300 items… I have been real busy with my items for the flee market and trying to decide if I want to go bigger when I go back… I would have to get more customers… And the weather has allot to do with it… I do not want to go inside as the people don’t seem inclined to go there… I don’t know why other than the same people sell in there…all the time…There has to be a way to get people to come in there… I have been thinking and thinking on it..
Well time to get up and get moving.. I might be going to yard sales this morning… will see what my husbands thoughts are on the subject… I cut out all the paper for the list of places to go.. He will put them in order and I will tape them to a sheet of paper to get us on the way… I need to go to Joe Bullards today to pick up more of his “Waiting for Agnes” I have one left… I have sold over 200 copys of this book… I am so glad that I started selling for him and for me…

People read so many different kinds of books.. I carry mostly paperback to the flee market.. I have both kinds paperback and hardcover, new and used on my online store.. I have signed and autographed… (for a long time I did not realize there was a difference.. But there is) signed is just the authors name, autographed is when they write it to you personally.. I have quite a few like that.. Some I have kept over the years.. Others I have offered in my store…
Authors, I never realized till I started collecting books for my online store that there are so many. I have seen all the books in stores but never stopped to think about who or why they were written.. I have over 300 authors in my store… And add more all the time… I have slowed down in the past few months… I need to get going again.. I have taken allot of my collection and put it in my flee market store… I can see I need to make a list of authors on that store.. I think I will do that next week… bring my laptop right out to the garage.. and go from box to box.. Not worry about category just get the authors names in ABC order… The reason being I get asked all the time if I have an author and I have to say I don’t know as lots of times I might only have one and don’t remember.. Then I find it after the person has left. That happens to me every week.. Also I have to see the name written down so I can picture the book in my minds eye.. I don’t spell well so I sometimes can’t get a grip on what the person is asking me for.. This does not make for a great book seller.. But if I had a store I would need sales help and you hire them to off set what you don’t know and they do…
I was in retail for over 18 yrs. I was a good sales person and a great manager of other people.. I did not treat them as if they were under me.. I taught them everything I knew and took what they knew and used it also.. People work for you better in the long run if you do not bully them and treat them as equals… Even tho you are their boss.. They mostly don’t forget that and work harder for you… I have worked with so many different people over the years.. And I have stuffed a lot of knowledge under my hat.. I love to read and love books I just don’t know a lot about all kinds of books… I am a creature of habit so I read the same kinds and don’t venture a way much.. I have been told by book sellers I need to read more of the different kinds.. Well I have my family who reads so many different ones that I don’t need to.. I ask questions and they tell me.. I have a daughter who like biographies, another likes historical, I have a daughter in law who likes romantic suspense, and suspense, granddaughters like the witches and vampires, sister in law who likes Christian, her husband likes westerns(they are hard to come by) and I bring up the rear with the romance and suspense.. I like early America like late 1800 on up I like small town America.. Books can take you so many places.. Pick one up and take the ride.. Right now I am reading about a young woman who has taken over the family ranch, got some young steer to raise and bring to market.. she got them a low price.. Not knowing what kind they were and they grew into huge steer that she could not get down out of her mountains to bring to market and has got the help of some great cowboys and that is where I am at now.. have another 100 pages to go… Just a little Harlequin romance… On my table in the living room next to my chair I have four Christmas Harlequin I picked up… I read about the holidays all year long.. makes me feel great when I have a bad week or miss someone…Don’t get the idea I only read Harlequin small romance books.. I read all kinds.. and lots of different authors.. Next to my bed there was a cloth bag that I keep books in.. Now they are on top of the night stand as the bag is being used to go to the flee market so I am on the lookout for another one… I love bags that tell about where I have been… I have given a couple to my Mother so I don’t have as many as I use to have… I suppose I could use a holiday bag. But not as much fun…But pretty…
