This Is My Story(Again) 9/16/09

What’s it like to have a  online business.. Its different than a business outside the home in many ways.. In my case I have had an online bookstore sense November 2005. I started out on eBay when the prices were allot less expensive to sell.. I started out with 200 books and its grown to online and off total of over 3000. I did hardly any sales the first year… 2nd year got better.. and so forth.. Last year as the economy got worse so did business.. I have always remained in the black.. I could not live on what I make.. Its more a hobby to keep me busy.. But I would not want to give it up for anything.. I was lucky enough to meet an author who sells his own books… So I took this over and offer “Waiting for Agnes’s” on three different markets.. eCRATER which sells for less, eBay sells for a little more, and Amazon that sell for the most…. The reasons being eCRATER does not charge for anything that they have.. You meaning Me have to do all the work of putting your info in about your item.. Where in my case I sell books eBay takes the IBSN # and finds all the info that  book publishers would have on this book and brings it to your site including photo’s. Where on eCRATER I have to take photo’s and store them… I have to create every bit of info that I offer… This includes getting the info out about my store.. I have to self promote it…Twitter has been a big help… I was selling nothing but Waiting for Agnes for a while, now business is picking up… Amazon charges a huge fee to sell your item so I put this back by selling at a higher price…. eBay has out Fee’s themselves.. they charge when you put an item in and it is reentered every month.. luckily its automatic… but there is a fee… then when you sell there is a another fee. It you have a store there is a monthly fee… of over $10.00 .  I was spending over $200.00 a month when at eBay so when I read a blog about someone selling on  another site  I asked them about it and they pointed out eCRATER. Thanks to that person I have saved a lot of money.. It has taken a while to pick up and its still slow but I see the light… Online store when you store things in your home, in my case my husband does not ask me to pay for my electricity or room … I think he chucks it up to I am happy and busy.. He also does not charge me for boxing up my items… He is getting where he is easy to talk to about something as he is keeping up with what my store is doing.. He likes to go to the post office with me and when I can’t go he goes and chats with the postal employee’s and comes home and tells me.. This blog has done me alot of good with selling as well as letting me get my thoughts out of my head…

I am still working on Romance this week … I don’t see a finished in sight. So next Monday I will just stop and go on to adventure, mystery for a change in passe and let those people see some new books… fantasy and paranormal people will just have to wait till I get some more books… They are all in… Historical Romance  I have allot to put in but trying to do one side of my room at a time…   At anytime if there is something you are looking for let me know and I will look though what I have and get it to you if I have it… We do not have a bookstore in my town.. I get my new books at signings or WalMart. The nearest new store to me is 30 miles away… People have tried but I think they just have not been in the right place with the right items… When I go to yard sales I find books that are like new.. so I know people are going to book stores… people are reading…

What really hurts is when people stick you with no payment… I did not think this was possible.. I did make a few mistakes in the beginning .. That is why I do not take checks anymore.. Well a couple of weeks ago I had someone buy one new books and pay on paypal. Then same person bought two of the same book on paypal.. This person payed for both orders right away so I got them ready and mailed the next day… 4 days later the persons bank put a hold on the one book payment which amounted to over 25.00 .Paypal sent me a notice that there was a hold on payment do not send item.. Now who waits 4 days to mail something when you have the payment and its good… After all this time and my sending info to prove that I mailed it I got a notice from Paypal that the case is closed I am out $25.00.. And I am really out as I have to pay the book author his share. I have sent a couple of emails to this person and have not gotten a reply… This does not happen often.. This is my first time…. I have made mistakes and had to fix them at my expense .. And I do right away.. I have a very good feedback on all my selling places… To help make extra money so I could go buy more books I started selling at my local flee market I did pretty good… But I was underselling the lady who was always there….(She has moved.. sense this email was written.  I am back at Flee Market after a summer brake. Will be there as long as I can weather permitting.)

What to write.. Has been kinda easy all week… Only thing that has been.. I have been in a funk all week.. I don’t know what it is for sure… Could be missing grandchildren and their parents. Could be I am ready for a change in senery and can’t do it… Sales on store are ok… sold 6 books to 3 customers… so really only three sales….. And one after being a ok payment and sent to customer.. comes back as a hold… Now what online seller does not send their items as soon as the money is there… I am noted for next day service… Just another thing to worry about … Have never had this happen before…. I have had people who order and never pay… but never after 4 days the bank puts a hold on the money I alreay have and spent.. so to speak… If customer does not pay they have my book and I owe the author… As its one of my new autographed books.  I have been going to enter books and shot glasses all week and they just sit on my desk…

I have been doing a lot of thinking of the real book store I would love to have… Its a pipe dream…. Bookstores in our town don’t last… To many people here work in other bigger towns I am sure they go there for their books… That and Wal-Mart … I find pleantyof used… And I have done some good business at flee market as I am lower than the bookstore that is always there… But that is taking business away from someone else… and I know what that is like.. As my husband and family say its a good thing that I don’t have to make a living at this.   I have done real well selling one book over the time when the times have been hard… “Waiting for Agnes” by Joe Bullard great little book and its autographed… I am selling it in three locations on the Internet… Amazon, eBay and eCRATER.   Amazon and eBay I only sell one book.. My bookstore is on eCRATER at www.readerwave.ecrater.com  I have many kinds of books and lots of authors.. over 1200 books and 120 authors, then I have books in categories if I don’t have many of their books.. so if you don’t find under authors name look under romance, fantasy, adventure, religion etc, audio, large print… I also have other things like cups, Cd’s talking books, movies, Leap-Pad items.. I even have some that are just book or cartridge they are not listed.. But if you have something you need email me and I will look … readerwave@bellsouth.net  If I don’t have will look for it other places.. I had a email yesterday.. I looked on eBay for book and found it and told customer and they could order themselves cheaper than if I ordered it and had it sent to them…  used books sell from .55 to 2.00 depends on side and shape.. Harlequin sell for .55 or a little less..  Check it out you will be very happy to find the book you are looking for… Once in a while I feature other stores on my blog as well…. There is a store in Anchorage, Alaska that sells books on Alaska… There is another lady who I found who sells neat candles… You can find anything if you look…  If you have a favorite author and see that they are going to visit  the North Florida area let me know I love to meet all the different authors… I have gotten so really good reading and meant 12 new authors to me last month… As you might of seen over the last 8 months that I have had this blog I have a favorite author Debbie Macomber… Now if one of you is going to Cedar Cove Days.. email me some pictures… would love to go.. I was there to see Debbie about 8 yrs ago… what a nice little town…

Book Store

eCRATER is a little known place, where I can enter all my books for free, pay nothing to them when I sell books, or other items.  Then its also a place where you don’t have to pay allot when you buy…. I only charge 00.45 to 2.00 for used books… depending on shape they are in and size.  I have Harlequin which I can not sell on Ebay or Amazon as I would have to charge over a 1.00  Both these other stores charge huge fee’s which like any other business I would pass on to you so I could make money. I have a book in both these stores and I also have it in eCrater… You can see the difference in pricing… Check out “Waiting for Agnes by Joe Bullard.. its a new personally autographed book about the Coral Castle in Homestead,Fl. Its the only book I have been selling for awhile… People are not checking out my eCRATER store even though its easy to look at and over 1200 items in it. New and Used Books, audio,LARGE PRINT,Cd’s, collectibles, stuffed animals, flip flops (homemade decorated) We also have a big collection of Nora Roberts, and Debbie Macomber, Diana Palmer,James Patterson,and many more. We have over 120 named authors as well as ones in sections of Romance, Mystery,Fantasy,Religion and more.  We offer you two ways to buy… Papal and money order, with paypal its harder to offer you a shipping discount. But if you trust us..we will send you a refund after we process your order.  With money order we will send you the right bill before you send it… What we offer is When you buy more than one book first or most expenxive is shipping  full price and everyone after is 1.00  … Another deal is if you buy 4 or more books you get one free.. You email us with the choice and we take it off line for you… It must be one of the same or lesser value.

Books One Store over Another

Love to read, turned a hobby into a pretty good store for a very long time… Last year after 4 yrs of higher and higher prices, and changed rules more often than we can count, we moved from eBay to eCRATER. 

There are only two things I can’t do at the new store or you can’t do..Move from one persons books to another.. example 1 (search for one title and find every book in ebay with that title so you get lots of sellers offerings. In eCrater you go from one store to another and look at all the persons books..) 2nd example (shipping discounts.. can’t offer them directly like before.. If you want a shipping discount you must pay full price andI will send you back a refund as soon as I get your order.  shipping discount is buy first book or largest weighting book in your choice of books pay full price  every book after in the SAME order is $1.00 shipping and handling.  The only way to do this in eCRATER is to payful price and I will send you a refund as soon as I get the order… Of course if you do money order you can have your discount right away… as you are mailing me amount after I send bill …

I offer over 1000 books and other items in my store come take a look… Over 100 authors listed by name and some are in random spots where they belong, romance, mystery etc.. Remembering back I do not recall all 60, 4th of July’s that I have seen.. I think the one I remember the most is just a few years ago… Just after I married my husband of almost 18 yrs.. We went to his sisters to visit for the weekend of the 4Th.. Her town might have enough people for a parade and watchers now… The parade was the school kids dresses up like all the different people like Abe Lincoln, George Washington, One family has a big wagon and was pulling the kids in their costumes… I have pictures but I have no idea where they are. A lot of things are still packed away in boxes in the garage.. now the best place for pictures…But when I looked through some things last year they were fine…Just picture small town USA

Tomorrow night our little subdivision is having fireworks in and empty lot we still have . It should be really nice…. Hope everyone has a great 4th…. All our company is gone so we will be celebrating  with our neighbors.

I received the last payment I will receive from Amazon for awhile have not sold a book in quite awhile….

iPod love it…

Have not done allot with mine… I may not for awhile… I have music on it… I have been told I can put books on it… I feel like I am cheating allotof people out of a good read when I get done.  And my used book store would suffer.. Of course I don’t know how it could be any worse than it is now… I am the only one writing and reading. This is why I have never become a writer my stories and grammar are only good enough for me to read.  I had a grandma who would correct my grammar when I would write her letters and send them back to me… I never looked at them I was so upset that she would do it… My other grandma would take cards some one has sent to her and cross out words and put her own in.. I thought this was wonderful that she would take the time to do that…. I found out when I lived with this grandma that she could draw… I never knew that.. she was really good… She would not draw much as her family made fun of her… Well I guess you know who I take after… I have thought up some good stories… I have pretended to be someone else all my life… Well I don’t have to pretend thanks to my wonderful family I have a wonderful life now. My children my husband and the children he has brought to this marriage has made my life what I have always dreamed of… May everyone know such happiness.. Of course there are days I want something everyone does.. I would love travel,visit family and friends, see places I have never been.. Due to allot of reasons this will never happen.. I don’t go further than 1hr away from my house anyone time… Did you know there are allot of things with in one hr of someones house… If I could get it up to 2 1/2 I could really have a great time.. see Mickey or grandchildren, nieces and nephew.  Can’t wait till winter comes so we can go back to Fridays and see our family that we always have lunch with.. Some are doing other things over summer… Have a good one .. My dear friend who has been my friend for over 45 yrs… and I send a friendship ball back and forth to each other every month.. this is a silver ball that opens and you put something inside and give it to someone in friendship.. My sister in law has loved the idea ever sense she heard about… This past year I found a second ball and started sending it to her over the summer… She and I both have got the first send and now its on its way back to her I hope she like what I sent …. If anyone has rambled its surely me today…. What a day for someone to read this… I am listening to Cher on my iPod, I have Reba, George Strait, Garth Brooks and Michael Buble I might get some early tunes of MJ  but not sure…  If you read this please send someone else to read my mess… LOL…. Have a great day…. I am off to put some wonderful writers into my bookstore for someone to see and just have to you are    Thankgoodness for spell check…

What a day…..

Very productive… getting ready to put some more books on line… Has been going really well… Hubby has started up the lawn mower… He got a complement from the Pizza guy so he has to get on the mower and make it look even better… We lost two more tree’s .. to much water…

Every time we spend money for dirt, tree, I would like to get the developer by the hair … If you are going to do something do it right… I show everyone the mess so they don’t get one of the new homes here… There is one for sale across the street from me but its been here a long time and was built by a different developer and its really nice the water drains off great… I think we need to have a dirt party and get some young people in to spread dirt for gene… He can’t do it all himself..

I took some pictures of the book. Like the first page with the authors signature. The first written page to show how big the print is… And the back cover to show Ed with the pulley and electrical box… “Waiting for Agnes” by Florida Native Joe Bullard is a great book with 343 pages of wonder of truth and fantasy.. I have told Joe that I will sell all that he gave me today before he leaves on vacation so help….. This book is sold on three sites… Amazon it sells for $23.00 , eBay it sells for $19.99 and on eCRATER its sells for $19.50   Three different prices as these stores go from charging allot to nothing for selling the product… and they are all equal in the way they take care of the customer. One offers only PayPal one offers PayPal and money orders, one offers credit card, paypal . You have so many choices. go to  http://amazon.com  and put the name of the book in.. remember its paperback. no picture will show when you first go but open it up and see lots of pictures.  Go to http://readerwave.comand from there you can go to readerwave on line book store(eCRATER) or eBay  There are so many ways to look… If you are looking for other books look at eCRATER  and if you don’t find ask… People who live here local to me can send me email at readerwave@bellsouth.net and I will bring a copy of the book with me on Saturdays to the flee market or we can find another way..This book is $19.00 as you are picking up..  I only carry one copy with me on Saturdays unless you let me know that I will need more…Waiting for Agnes
