Kitchen Sink Not Here

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

I sat here and just wrote a note to my fav author.. Debbie Macomber. It was not to tell her how much I enjoyed her latest book “Hannah’s List”.  Which I did…It was a complaint about not being able to make comments on her blog.. See I love making comments sometimes they are crazy and know one understands but me but they let you know that I read and liked or did not like your blog… I use to always make comments on her blog.. But for the past year I haven’t been able to use it and can’t get it figured out.I hope someone on her staff will get this figured out… Faster than FB does there problems… There are so many slow downs and not now things happening on FB that its a shame.. I guess the people who are not playing anymore need to clean out there farms and get off it might free up space for everyone else.

My online store is getting more things today.. I found some Leap Pad books and cartridges yesterday and took pictures. started to enter and the computer was so slow that I gave up… Today I want to do my junk box.. Come see these things in the next few days… Tell your friends..

Tonight I am going to see local author Joe Bullard introduce his newest book “Bolita Sam” at our local Lake City,Fl library.  I am the only seller of his books both “Waiting for Agnes” and his new one,”Bolita Sam”. I offer signed copies. I use to offer autographed and dated But that is hard to do when you want a date that is so close to when you bought it.. Some times I am out of town or he is so we need to keep lots of copies on hand and can’t always get together. So we decide to offer signed copies. There are people out there selling copies but they are used.. So watch what you buy. I think I would rather have a new one than a used one for the same price.  Some of the books sell for more than others as the company handling wants more money.. Amazon charges more handling fee than eBay or eCRATER.  I went up in price this year by $1.oo as the supplies went up. Thanks all 300 plus of you who have bought Agnes from over 20 countries… That is so hard for me to believe till I go back and look at the sales slips.. When I have “Bolita Sam” on line for sale I will email each and everyone of you to let you personally know ..If you have read Agnes please write a comment here and let us know what you thought of the book. Hubby just brought me the newspaper there is an article today about the signing tonight. I hope all the locals to LC will come out to hear him… and Meet the Author  his next book is about the Ruby McCollum Story..

If you find reading my blog a touchier sorry I don’t profess to be a great English Major.. I am very bad with grammar and spelling.. I try to fix what I can and hope you will get over your cringe real soon. I just write this blog for the love of saying what I think and feel and letting you know about my stores www.readerwave.com will take you to everything except www.amazon.com I have not put pictures up on here lately as something is wrong with this part.. Have not had time to get with daughter who fixes these things for me … you might know her as weatherangel on twitter.. She has a very demanding job, and she and her partner are the creators of Hurricane and Traveler’s Quest  Then there are my three lovely grandchildren who started school yesterday and you know them on facebook as Ginny and Elizabeth. Ginny is a senior this year. Lizzy will be next year.. (yes I did say three one is not on FB) Yet  As you can see I start on one subject and go on to many more with out a breath… LOL…One of my grandsons just joined FB and asked me to be on with him.. I was quite honored… Grandma Dona as these boys call me… Loves them very much.. I want to go south for birthdays but the closing of my book store is around the same time so will go the week after.. And this will be the first time in a long time that we will be around for Ginny’s She turns 18 this year… Wow where did the time go.. I have a picture I have been looking for to put a then and now… I just have not found it.. has to be in boxes in garage… I will get to it before the year is over. I promise…Oh I mentioned the closing of book store don’t get excited.. We will close every year for a month while the fair is in town .As we are at the fair grounds.. This will give me time to plan and create.. Hubby has made me 8 more book shelves 6 of them will replace the one long one I have in the middle of my store as its falling apart and I will have an extension on both sides To make more room . Both the mystery suspense and the historical romance need more room.. I am hoping this will free up one book case on the back to make more romance back there. When all the other book cases and books come home to be stored in the garage hubby will put backs on the others.. I am always hearing books fall down the back of the shelves as book cases are not up tight to the wall. I will be adding more space to the store so bring in your friends and tell them we will have more books than ever.. I will have a per. sale table for children’s and Harlequin so I don’t have to take it up and down every week.. Let me tell you after being out in the heat or cold all day the last thing you want to do on Sunday afternoon is take down and put up a new sale.

On my www.readerwave.ecrater.comsight i also sell doll, books, LeapPad machines and books, I have an antique cradle, lots of odds and ends including my JDS Box (Junk)postcards.. and will be adding more and more… at www.shotglassheaven I will be adding a few each week as I have so many and get tired of looking at them all at one time… so have decide to do a little of each thing so I won’t get tired..

Holiday Reading

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Holiday gift giving… can be very stressful…. Reading is a great hobby and if someone doesn’t read, you never know you might get them to with a great book.. or magazine. I like this time of year as all the new holiday books come out… I read Christmas stories all year long.. Brings my spirits up and I just love reading about Christmas and different way authors bring you in to celebrate. Most authors write a holiday book… Then I pick and choose what and when I will read it…I am always finding a Harlequin that I have not read or think I haven’t and I reread it some times… Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors and she writes about Christmas Angels… Shirley, Goodness and Mercy…They are sent from Heaven to Earth to help people find what they are looking for.. Forgiveness, love, all kinds of things… Her Cedar Cove series had a holiday book last year, “A Cedar Cove Christmas”  I have it at my on line store with the series of Cedar Cove 11 books new and used for$48.00  I have read several Sherryl Woods holiday books… James Patterson wrote one a year or so ago… It was great…

Holidays are the best time of the year if we could remember to act like we do over the holidays all year long it would be a great thing….

Holiday movies my favorite is with Tom Hanks and the Train… One coming up December 5 on Hallmark channel is Mrs. Miracle with Doris Roberts… This was a book written by yes my favorite author Debbie Macomber.

Find a good book, good chair and read.

Have several series on line… in my www.readerwave.ecrater.comstore… Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, Linda Lael Miller … I had some extras and I think I have some fantasy after I go though some bags out in my garage. Some of the newer stuff I just got last week… Needs a lot of work… trying to decided if I want one or two booths.. This time… Then the next week I have to be closed as company is coming.. From that week on I will be open hoping for some extra business for the holidays… I wish I could be two people as I want to do yard sales also… Can’t do both.. That’s go to them not have them. I already did that last month and we did pretty good… Well the rambling Woman is back…. she never leaves for long…

Books, there are so many things you can find in them.. You can learn to cook, maybe you want to be like Paula Dean, or Rachel Ray.  Then maybe you want to learn to decorate like Nate, or the design team from Extreme Makeover…Or maybe you want to learn all of it from Martha Stewart..

Ramblings of a Crazy Woman

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Google Analytics this fetcher on my computer is a wonder and an enjoyment to me.. When my daughter told me she cold show me who was on my sites I was shocked.. not names of people but what  towns and how they got to my site. There is a wheel that shows if they came direct, like they knew our store address or blog… If they came by way of a search engine.. Like google … Even what countries, states and towns… Like yesterday some one from the southwest looked at a book.  From Powey that is in California I think…

Wish it could tell me what to do to make people look more and then buy.. I love my bookstore and my shot glass store.. It makes me feel bad that I don’t do better at it.. I do better at the flea market… I can’t offer as much there as its to hard to carry everything with me…

We are having a fair in our town in the next few weeks so our flee market is closed down to get ready for it… I think I will go this year to get a better understanding of it… Also there is a book fair at the Library in the next town over this week and I got some really go buys last year so I am going to go get a look at it… I will need to be careful so I think I will take some boxes with me and a dolly… I have a plastic one that I can use put the box on it and go around with it so I don’t have to carry items then I will have boxes in the car that I can switch to it will take longer.  The reason I will have to be careful is I feel yesterday in our grocery store parking lot.. Spent several hours at the hospital getting x rays… I am on some good meds.. as I don’t hurt like I thought I would this morning.. I am going to go off them this morning to see how I feel… So I can get the pain level to tell the doctor when I call for my checkup date…

As you can see I am a rambler.. This is my blog to tell my story… To let my hair down so to speak..So I talk on here as if I were talking to someone here at home… But if you have read my blogs in the past I am the talker of this family..(husband and I)..I love him,our children(his and mine) books and shot glasses… I have two online  stores Readerwave who has moved from 4 years of being on eBay to being on eCRATER.. www.readerwave.com or www.readerwave.ecrater.com  I list most of my books by author… I can place as many books as I want on this site with no charge… for listing or selling.. You say how do they make there money.. from advertising. If I wanted I could place ads and lots of people do.. I don’t… Prices at eBay got to high for the amount that I was selling… I sell a book “Waiting for Agnes”by a local author in our area Joe Bullard..This book has sold real good for me… I have offered it on eBay, Amazon and eCRATER… I have sold over 200 copies and some are more than one to a person.. Make wonderful gifts and its signed.. That is the added feature I can offer that no one else can.. And the fact I am the only one offering NEW signed copies… They make wonderful gifts… If you are a Florida history buff its great… If you want to give a copy to your Library its great… I have sold copies to many countries… I feature some of my favorite authors I am a romance, suspense reader… Some of my favorite authors many of them write stories that are a series about small town USA Debbie Macomber-Cedar Cove (fashioned after her hometown of Port Orchard,Washington..(I have been there its across the bay from Seattle..)great place… This year they held Cedar Cove Days and to hear tell it was great.. I think I can quote someone who went that said there were 40 States and lots of countries represented…   You can read about this author more on her blog  www.debbiemacomber.com  Then there is Robyn Carr and Virgin River fashioned after no particular town but after the northern redwood area of California… you can read about Rybon Carr more at her site www.robyncarr.com  Then there is Diana Palmer and The Long Tall Texans series from Jacobsville, Texas another made up town of small town America. www.dianapalmer.com  Another one which I found by accident two summers ago when I had decided to read books with a series.. and new authors to me… I found JoAnn Mapson who wrote a series about Alaska and a young wheelchair bound girl trying to keep her plant nursery going that was left to her in a will by her aunt… loved it… I have always wanted to visit there and I did thought these stories.. There are so many authors with series that I love. Joan Johnston who writes about early history in America… (settlers) Then there is Jan Karon who writes about Medford  another small town USA… www.jankaron.com   These are just a few… there are so many more.. If you have an author who writes a series you think I should try please let me know.  I have read allot of authors with a series this is just the icing on the cake so to speak… There is Susan Wiggs, Rachel Lee, Janet Evanovich, Sherryl Woods, Luanne Rice, Linda Lael Miller she has a wonderful series that I follow … www.lindalaelmiller.com  also Fern Micheals and the sisterhood , www.fernmicheals.com  then there is Dorothy Garlock who write about the early days in America the 30′s on up…great stories… There are just to many to mention…. www.dorothygarlock.com

I like going to book signings.. In January I heard about one with 12 local authors being there.. I traveled an hour from my home and it was well worth it.. I met some of the nicest woman and I had not read any of  them … I have read almost all the books I bought and had autographed that day.. I sent several to my daughter as she likes to read of vampires and I don’t find that to be my cup of tea…

Ramblings of a Crazy Woman is what I am changing my blog title to instead of Google Analytics as it is at the moment… I am not Crazy as the saying goes just crazy about Romance Novels… and their authors… Thanks for listening to my rambling… as we all hear a voice in our head as we read, I do…

New Autograhed Books

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Our bookstore offers many kinds of books Today we will show you the ones new with autographs

Waiting for Agnes by Joe Bullard Inspired by the true story of Coral Castle

Coral Castle sits on Key West Highway in Homestead,Florida.  It was built by a Latvian immigrant named Ed Leedskalnin.  Claiming he fashioned his tools from Mr. Kilgore’s junkyard, Edd cut and moved over 1100 tons of massive, jagged coral stone.  When asked how he did this, Ed said,”I know the secret of the Great Pyramid.”

This book is about why Ed left his home in Latvia, moved to Florida, and built Coral Castle at the edge of the Everglades.  It also explores a theory of how Ed might’ve cut and moved stones weighing more than those of the Great Pyramid.  The true secret of this lost science can never be known, it went into the grave with Ed when he died in 1951.

My Favorite Author, Who’s Yours?

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

After reading her blog I decided to tell you a little about my favorite author, Debbie Macomber. I have met her three times.. Each time was better than the last. First time was eight years ago. In her hometown of Port Orchard,WA Now I live in Florida, quite a distance to go for just a signing you say..Well I had 4 other great reasons to go.. My daughter and three of my grandchildren lived in Bellview at the time..  We rode the ferry over and took a tour of the town what a wonderful time we had. If I ever get to go again I am going to look for the house on one of her Cedar Cove books as its Debbie’s house.

I have read all her books so far. I started out on the first Cedar Cove book and when from there. I have many of her books in my used book store www.readerwave.ecrater.com  and she was kind enough to send me bookmarks to put with my books when I ship them out.

I want to tell you about some of her books.

16 Lighthouse Road  1st book in her Cedar Cove Series and hardest to find  When Ceilia Randall   naval officer husband Ian, appear in Judge Olivia Lockhart’s Cedar Cove family court, they expect the good judge to grant the divorce they seek.  But Olivia senses the couple still love one another and just need time to work on their marriage in the wake of their infant daughter’s death.  So Olivia denies their petition and makes headlines in the Cedar Cove Chronicle earning the divorced mother more than journalistic admiration form the paper’s editor, Jack Griffin.  Meanwhile, Olivia’s daughter Justine, must decide if she will marry an older man her mother insists is wrong for her, and Olivia’s best friend, Grace Sherman, the local libraian,is frantic with the disappearance of her husband Dan.  Everyone in Cedar Cove is talking.

204 Rosewood Lane 2ndbook  Six months after her husband of 35 years,Dan disappeared, Grace Sherman is confident he’s run off with another woman so, against her daughter,Kelly’s wishes she files for divorce.  Meanwhile, Judge Olivia has love problems of her own.  Her ex-husband wants her back, giving her on-again, off-again suitor, Jack Griffin, some stiff competition.  Jack has other problems.  His son Eric, comes home to bunk with dad, on the outs, with his girlfriend, Shelly, who thinks she’s pregnant Olivia’s daughter, Justine, wises up and marries her high school sweetheart, but Zach and Rosie Cox find their marriage on the  skids.  Rosie’s volunteer work takes precedence over her family responsibilties.  Maryellen Sherman, Grace’s oldest daughter and manager of the local art gallery, becomes pregnant after a brief affair with artist Jon Bowman.  Romance, babies divorce and marriage keep Cedar Cove gossips buzzing.

311 Pelican Court  3rd  book  Now divorced, Zach and Rose Cox are struggling to adjust to Judge Olivia’s unusual custody agreement-and to the fact they’re thrown together more than they would have wished.  The kids are staying in the family home, and its’s Rosie and Zach who have to do the coming andgoing.  Having discovered the tragic fate of her husband, Grace tries to adjust to single living and to the attentions of another man.

But the really big gossip comes when a guest dies at Bob and Peggy Beldon’s Thyme and Tide Bed and Breakfast, Roy McAfee, the local private investigator, wants to know who the guy was, and why he showed up there,of all places, in the middle of the night.

44 Cranberry Point 4th book Judge Olivia andher husband Jack, are back form their homemoon to find her mother,Charlette who’s at least seventy-five, has a man in her life.  But the big buzz is about the man who died in the Beldon’s bed and breakfast.  Turns out, his name ws Max Russell, and Bob knew him briefly in Vietnam.  But who poisoned him and why?

In happier news, Jon Bowman and Mary ellen Sherman have seen the light-they’re getting married.  Maryellen’s mom, Grace, has more than her share of interested men, but which one will she choose?  All grist for the gossip mill in Cedar Cove, the town you’d love to call home.

50 Harbor Drive 5th book Roy McAfee, Cedar Cove’s resident priate investigator, and his wife, Corrie, have been receiving annonymous postcards and messages, asking if they regret the past, and what they mean is a mystery to them!  On a more positive note, Roy and Corrie are delighted that their daughter, Linette has moved back to Cedar Cove to work at the new medical clinic.  Linette isn’t too enthusiastic  her mom has set her up with Cal Washburn, who works at Cliff Harding’s horse farm.  Corrie bought Linette a date with Cal at the humane society’s “Dog and Bachelor Aution” The romance between Cliff and Grace Sherman is back but that’s just one of the many interesting stories you’ll read about in 50 Habor Street

6 Rainier Drive  6th book   After losing The Lighthouse restaurant to arson, Justine and Seth Gunderson’s marriage is rocky.  The prime suspect, Anson Butler, is a young ex-employee who disappeared right after the fire.  But when a cross necklce shows up in the ashes of the restaurant authorities wonder if someone else set the fire.  Seth assumes they will rebuild, but Justine likes not having to worry about the restaurant.  It’s as if they don’t know each other anymore.  But could something unexpected rekindle their love, say in nine months?  Still, there’s good news in Cedar Cove.  Cal, who works on Cliff  Harding’s ranch, is rescuing wild mustangs from Wyoming but might find he’s better suited for other adventures.  And a Victorian Tea Room and Gift Shop could be in the works.  In the meantime life goes on, with marriages, births, reunions…and even the occasional scandal.

74 Seaside Ave  7th book   I’m living a life I could’t even have dreamed of a few years ago.  I’m married to Bobby Polgar now(you know the famous chess champion who just happens to be the man I love!)  And we’ve got this beauiful house with a view of Puget Sound.

Lately something’s been worrying Bobby, though.  When I asked, he said he was protecting his queen”- and I got the oddest feeling he wasn’t talking about chess but about me.  He wouldn’t say anything else.

Do you remember Get Nailed, the beauty salon in Cedar Cove”  I still work there.  I’ll tell you about my friend Rachel who’s got two men interested in her (count’em, two).  And I’ll let you in on what I’ve heard about Linnette McAfee who left town when her love life fell apart(That kind of trouble I know all about)  Come in soon for a manicure and a chat okay?

8 Sandpiper Way 8th book  Emily Flemming can think of only two explanations-an affair or sticky fingers_ but neither sounds like the husband she knows and loves.  Still, Pastor Dave did regularly visit the elderly woman whose jewlry has been turning up missing, and he does refuse to tell Emily where he’s been when he comes home so late.  He may be a good man, but  he sure looks guilty-even to his wife

Meanwhile Sheriff Troy Davis’s long-ago love has moved to town, and there’s news aplenty from newcomers and old-timers alike in Cedar Cove

On Sale August 2009

92 Pacific Boulevard  I’m not much of a letter wirtier.. As the sheriff here, I’m used to writing incident reports, not catty letters.  But my duaghter, Megan0 who’ll be making me a grandfather soon-told me I had to do this.. So here goes.

I’ll tell you straight out that I’d hoped to marry Faith Beckwith(my onetime high school girlfriend) but she ended the relationship last month, even though we’ve both widowed and available.  There were a few misunderstandings between us, some of them inaffvertently caused by Megan.

However, I’ve got plenty to keep me occupied, like the unidentified remains found in a cave outside town.  And the fact that my friend Judge Olivia Griffin is fighting cancer.  And the break-in at 204 Rosewood Lane-the house Faith happens to be renting from Grace Harding… If you want to hear more, come on over to my place or to the sheriff’s office-if you can stand the stale coffee.

Book 10  comes out September 2010 God willing…..

Two other books in series and around the series

5-B Poppy Lane Novella in Hearts Divided Anthology

Grandmothers know best-especially these three grandmothers, all soldier’ briders
