Holiday Reading

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Holiday gift giving… can be very stressful…. Reading is a great hobby and if someone doesn’t read, you never know you might get them to with a great book.. or magazine. I like this time of year as all the new holiday books come out… I read Christmas stories all year long.. Brings my spirits up and I just love reading about Christmas and different way authors bring you in to celebrate. Most authors write a holiday book… Then I pick and choose what and when I will read it…I am always finding a Harlequin that I have not read or think I haven’t and I reread it some times… Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors and she writes about Christmas Angels… Shirley, Goodness and Mercy…They are sent from Heaven to Earth to help people find what they are looking for.. Forgiveness, love, all kinds of things… Her Cedar Cove series had a holiday book last year, “A Cedar Cove Christmas”  I have it at my on line store with the series of Cedar Cove 11 books new and used for$48.00  I have read several Sherryl Woods holiday books… James Patterson wrote one a year or so ago… It was great…

Holidays are the best time of the year if we could remember to act like we do over the holidays all year long it would be a great thing….

Holiday movies my favorite is with Tom Hanks and the Train… One coming up December 5 on Hallmark channel is Mrs. Miracle with Doris Roberts… This was a book written by yes my favorite author Debbie Macomber.

I Could Write……..

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I should be writing about books.. I should be writing about how my book store is doing and how wonderful it all is… I should be… I can’t, because its not… I have not had a sale in weeks .. Most of it is my fault.  I have not put in any extra work into it… I can write how I have gone to yard sales and how I have bought books from customers that I have met sense living here in Lake City.. I can write that I have not written anything interesting in my blog for weeks.. I can write how no one is reading my blog.. I can write about how its hard for me to think of things to write about. I can write how I wish I could figure out how to fix all this… I can write how I wish I had a real bookstore in the real world.. I could write about how I don’t know the first thing about keeping money flowing in my book account.. I could write about all the big idea’s I have for a store.. I could write about not having the finances to have a store and with out that I can’t have one.. I will not borrow money from any thing or anyone.. I could write about all the great idea’s I have for running this store..  I could write about how I don’t read enough different kinds of authors so that I can help my customers.. I could write about how I wish I had the money, knowledge and the place to open this store… I could write about the wonderful husband who backs me in every fool thing I do… He is very surprised I have gotten as far as I have with this on line store…I could write how the past two years have been really fun with my store. I could write about all the work and fun I have had… I could write about all the books I have given to my local library, hospital, CARC, etc… I could write about how I believe in giving back. I could write about how I am thinking about donating books to my Mothers new home at the assisted living . I could write about how new we are there I don’t know what they have in a library. I could write how I entend to find out soon… I could write about how I am getting tired of writing I could write… LOL..  I could write about how we are having company this weekend and I will be off the computer for a few days… I could write how you can find great books new, used, autographed, and signed at www.readerwave.ecrater.com   I could write that this is the end of today’s blog…

Books……..

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Books, there are so many things you can find in them.. You can learn to cook, maybe you want to be like Paula Dean, or Rachel Ray.  Then maybe you want to learn to decorate like Nate, or the design team from Extreme Makeover…Or maybe you want to learn all of it from Martha Stewart..

Books can take you far look at all the books Oprah has had us read over the years…There is so much to find in books… You can learn to read… You can learn your ABC’s and sounds.  Books can teach you games… How to play fair…

There are romance books by authors, Debbie Macomber, Robyn Carr, Joan Johnston, Carlly Philips, and so many more. Mystery and suspense is a good one that everyone loves to read, by authors John Grisham, Brenda Novak, John Finder,Ted Bell, Dan Brown. Then there is fantasy written by Stephen King, Christine Feehan just to name a couple…

Books can be found in lots of places, Big bookstores like Borders, or Barns and Noble, mom and pop stores like Gallery West in Gainsville, Second Edition in Hollywood, Florida these are just two that I know about that sell new and used books. On line stores there are so many you can find the best one that I can tell you about is mine of course www.readerwave.ecrater.com  Then there is www.acread.ecrater.com  there are so many more.. You can find anything you are looking for some where.. You just have to look.. Places you don’t expect to think about looking second hand store, Salvation Army store, grocery store, Walmart is a big seller of books they get allot of the newest paperback on the best seller list..I bought 9 myself this month..

Books can take you lots of places, I have visited Alaska, in romance novels, this is some place I would really like to go some day. I have read of the Racing at Saratoga, I have read of Leaves changing in Vermont, I have read about Presidents and such in books I read in grade school from my school library, Library’s are free you can do so many things there.. whether its your school or public library… Our library has books, on tape, books in large print and just books, there are new hard cover books, there are soft paperback books, Our library even has books for sale that people donate or are taken out of the library for some reason. They even have a place to learn English so there is no reason not to read.My hats off to the person learning a new language. Reading is so much fun… you can read for fun as I do, for the pleasure it brings you… you can read your local newspaper to find out about whats happening in your town and areas around you as my husband does… Just Read….

Second writing one place you can find books I did not mention. Some people sell at Flee Markets, it might be with the other things they are selling they set out a few books they have read. Or Like I do I have whole boxes of just books that is what I offer for sale at the Flee Market.. When I go back in November will be offering new and used… Have been taking apart my book room here at home as right now I am doing better at Flee Market than on line… Yard Sales are another great way to get rid of and buy books… Here locally we go on Friday and Saturdays… When Flee Market is open I go on Fridays so I miss some great sales on Saturdays… Have been to some great ones while its closed

Help

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I started writing here and hubby came in and changed my whole train of thought… Some days I don’t get dressed as I don’t want to do anything but be around the house whether I am on the computer, reading a book or crocheting.. I have just taken that back up recently.. I am working on simple presents for holidays.. I may get them done and I may not.. I am going in two directions I have picked up simple gifts as well so that I can take them back if I need to… or want to.. I have been asking my Mom for help and have not cringed when she offers with out me asking… This has been our problem in the past to much of the wrong kind of what she calls  help, and I would call butting in…(or what they might(family)call corrective criticism

Help is a strange word it can be what it is help or it can be put in a tone of voice as Criticism… This is the kind of help I have always gotten from all my relatives mostly the older ones… and it was passed down to my parents so this is what I knew as a child and passed it down at my kids.. Luckily they did not pass it on down… The cycle was broken some how… My husband cringes when I talk back at my mother instead of to her… But this is how I was raised.. its hard to brake the cycle.. I did not live by my Mother for the first 10 yrs of my present marriage and when my Mother came to live with us after my step father died, all this old stuff came right back into my life… Its hard on him and he is great and lets us get it out… then he cringes…

So my asking for help from my Mother is strange for me..

I read alot.. we just had family here this weekend and it was great.. when they come they go into my store and pick out books that they want to take home.. So I have taken a few books off my store … Its fun to talk over series that we both like.. I have to mention to her about Virgin River by Rybon Carr its my favorite lately… and maybe because it good and maybe because she gives us so many to read in one year… That does not mean I love Cedar Cove by Debbie Macomber any less… You can buy both these authors  and many other at www.readerwave.ecrater.com

Whats a day dream,Whats real

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Books..I spent the better part of three days getting all my boxes in order, all the same authors together.. Worked out good for the first day.. Now that I have sold some and have some more books to put in with all kinds of different authors its going to be hard to do..

We have been talking about getting a auto or truck  that I can drive to flee market. Leave my books in all week ust take them out when I get there and before I go back home. Then my day dreaming took hold and I want a big truck that I can park somewhere and have my books inside for people to come look at.. and buy of course.. A place where I can work all week with two days off… Like normal people… Where I have to find someone to work so I can take extra time off… This is my day dreaming… its fun and safe as its not real oh it could be but for me its not…. at this time…

Real is my online book store www.readerwave.com

Book Lady Rambles On.

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Today we are going to a Library sale.. We went last year and got lots of books… I am hoping to get the authors that my readers are looking for… We went yesterday to doctors appointment and then to the used book store.. I was able to get quite a few different kinds.. Even got some westerns…

I now have so many books to take that I need to get a second table.. That will make me 5 and I can put out 30 boxes of books…  I even have some new or almost new that I am going to take just have to find a way to mark them as they will cost more as I payed more for them.. I might take the idea from a friend who had a book store here local and mark the cover … I have a couple of weeks to think on this…

I can’t wait to go back to the flee market .. I have so many people who look for me there… And have made so many new friends…

Today is my granddaughters 17 th birthday… Happy Day my dear girl.. we love you very much

You know the drill if you are looking for new or used books go to www.readerwave.ecrater.com or www.readerwave.com

Rambling about Books

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

People read so many different kinds of books.. I carry mostly paperback to the flee market.. I have both kinds paperback and hardcover, new and used on my online store.. I have signed and autographed… (for a long time I did not realize there was a difference.. But there is) signed is just the authors name, autographed is when they write it to you personally.. I have quite a few like that.. Some I have kept over the years.. Others I have offered in my store…

Authors, I never realized till I started collecting books for my online store that there are so many. I have seen all the books in stores but never stopped to think about who or why they were written.. I have over 300 authors in my store… And add more all the time… I have slowed down in the past few months… I need to get going again.. I have taken allot of my collection and put it in my flee market store… I can see I need to make a list of authors on that store.. I think I will do that next week… bring my laptop right out to the garage.. and go from box to box.. Not worry about category just get the authors names in ABC order… The reason being I get asked all the time if I have an author and I have to say I don’t know as lots of times I might only have one and don’t remember.. Then I find it after the person has left. That happens to me every week.. Also I have to see the name written down so I can picture the book in my minds eye.. I don’t spell well so I sometimes can’t get a grip on what the person is asking me for.. This does not make for a great book seller.. But if I had a store I would need sales help and you hire them to off set what you don’t know and they do…

I was in retail for over 18 yrs. I was a good sales person and a great manager of other people.. I did not treat them as if they were under me.. I taught them everything I knew and took what they knew and used it also.. People work for you better in the long run if you do not bully them and treat them as equals… Even tho you are their boss.. They mostly don’t forget that and work harder for you… I have worked with so many different people over the years.. And I have stuffed a lot of knowledge under my hat.. I love to read and love books I just don’t know a lot about all kinds of books… I am a creature of habit so I read the same kinds and don’t venture a way much.. I have been told by book sellers I need to read more of the different kinds.. Well I have my family who reads so many different ones that I don’t need to.. I ask questions and they tell me.. I have a daughter who like biographies, another likes historical, I have a daughter in law who likes romantic suspense, and suspense, granddaughters like the witches and vampires, sister in law who likes Christian, her husband likes westerns(they are hard to come by) and I bring up the rear with the romance and suspense.. I like early America like late 1800 on up I like small town America.. Books can take you so many places.. Pick one up and take the ride.. Right now I am reading about a young woman who has taken over the family ranch, got some young steer to raise and bring to market.. she got them a low price.. Not knowing what kind they were and they grew into huge steer that she could not get down out of her mountains to bring to market and has got the help of some great cowboys and that is where I am at now.. have another 100 pages to go… Just a little Harlequin romance… On my table in the living room next to my chair I have four Christmas Harlequin I picked up… I read about the holidays all year long.. makes me feel great when I have a bad week or miss someone…Don’t get the idea I only read Harlequin small romance books.. I read all kinds.. and lots of different authors..  Next to my bed there was a cloth bag that I keep books in.. Now they are on top of the night stand as the bag is being used to go to the flee market so I am on the lookout for another one… I love bags that tell about where I have been… I have given a couple to my Mother so I don’t have as many as I use to have… I suppose I could use a holiday bag. But not as much fun…But pretty…

If you have read my blogs before you know I ramble.. I write as I talk… I don’t pretend to know how to do this I just say it the way I feel it at the moment.. Thanks for reading and listening to what I have to say. If you have something to ad feel free to do so…

Looking for a great new or used, signed or autographed, soft or hard cover check out www.readerwave.ecrater.com

You Poor Readers

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Books … I promise to enter books in my eCRATER store next week… I have been lax.. lately.. very relaxed… And its showing up in my blogs also.. I am sorry to who ever might read and not comment… You are being very kind….

Next week I have several books to enter…

Brenda Novak   Trust Me  used

Barbara Delinsky  The Secret Between Us  New

Kate Wilhelm  Cold Case  New

Luanne Rice Last Kiss  (One reader,Me)

Linda Lael Miller Bridegroom(One Reader,Me)

Emilie Richards happiness key (One Reader,Me)

Nancy Haddock  Last Vampire Standing   New signed

I found out that I have been advertising my books wrong… Nothing new I always find something to change… I have been writting autographed on all the books where some are signed…..Like

Waiting for Agnes is signed…. Autographed is when its personally to someone.. I have many of those… some I have put away and some I sell… I like to see an author and get two books if I want to keep one so then I have one to sell also…

Oh this last paragraph just gave me a Christmas idea for one of my daughters… sense they don’t read me often I don’t have to worry about my idea getting out…. the last time I took a great idea from here it worked …. I have to do a lot more holiday thinking… Husbands birthday is coming up… Then there is Christmas for 4 children and spouses, and 7 grandchildren and Mother, then comes the extend family and friends members… I have one idea for one child and that is it… I was always done by now when I was working out.. Well some of that was because I worked retail for 18 yrs..  Then the sit down job came along… 7 plus yrs… Now I am not working just puttering around the house and with my books.  Sometimes it get boring and others its great.. Sales are down but times are looking up… Something new happens every day… Like this tick in my cheek… Have had it for a week now… comes and goes… Husband says its a muscle that is pinched somewhere and I need to move my arms around and it might stop.. Sometimes it comes at the weirdest moments.. That is like when my leg starts moving when I am sitting down with it up in my recliner… just starts moving on its own… and its not because there is music playing….

This is how I use to write letter could never write books I get off the subject and just travel…. I started out talking about books, went to holidays and then to health… you poor readers I am leaving it…
