I am back.. And already I went away again. My hubby came in and asked what I wanted for lunch. He is getting to be a true county retired person. Lunch at 11:30.  He has been out in the yard all morning putting dirt and mulch down. edging from his mowing yesterday.  Looks like fun sitting up there riding around the trees and bushes.  Last week he extended my rose garden and its so pretty. This year he has gone from putting roses in the back yard only to putting a couple out front. We have people who sell plants at the Flea Market and every week I am giving them a look over to see what I don’t have that I might want .. And they try not to disappoint me. (wish they would once in a while).

Granddaughters graduation from High School is Thursday can’t wait to see that. And a great neice goes to the same school so get to see two for the price of one ticket.(free) but you know tickets are hard to come by. Everyone wants to be there. Sorry to all the Aunts and Uncles Grandparents were asked first its only polite. Thanks Ginny Love you lots. And Mom’s and brother and sister(sister Lizzy graduates next year) and a cousin but they are not in the same school not even the same state. Don’t you dare mess it up so I have to choose which one.(please).

Well I have decided that I might scrimp by this summer at the book store if I don’t buy any books. that means no yard sales… I will only trade… prices will have to go up in November. Should be now but I am trying to stick to my original plan. If anyone has books they want to donate that would be nice don’t just get rid of them.. They must be in sellable condition.. prefer no animal or shed smells don’t over power me with smoke I will send them back home with you. Thanks for all my customers who are sticking with me though the heat of the summer.

Right now I am reading Barbara Freethy, Angel’s Bay series  Its really great.

Have a great day see you soon on here or at my bookstore. I will send books in the mail if you have something you need and I have  $1.25 a book and postage

Summer Begins Hot

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Where to begin. Has been a very long time sense I wrote on here. I was thinking I was not going to do it again.  I am always thinking of things I would say and just never do it.  Right now I am troubled about my bookstore. I love it so much and don’t know if I can keep it going over the summer when it is so hot and people either don’t get out  because of the heat or they are doing other things with families.. This is when I get to thinking I wish I had a real store where it was opened every day and I could afford to hire someone to help me. I think if that ever happened I would try to keep the Flea Market store also.  I did really bad this past weekend and if it keeps up I will have to cut back to two spaces again and I would not be-able to have as many books out as I have now. In the last month I have added three more bookcases so that I can have romance in a better spot.  I need to get more new customers for the summer months.

Looks like I will be raising my prices in the fall when we come back from the fair. I mentioned it to a few of my customers and they suggested that I do it now.  I am in a turmoil. Any suggestions would be helpful.  I am not buying book. I am getting lots of books with the tradein’s  There are some authors that I always run out of.  Stewart Woods, Lee Childs, Robyn Carr, Wendy Wax, Linda Lea Miller Diana Palmer  Joan Johnston Dorthy Garlock  and some of the fantasy writers who names fail me at the moment.

I had thought that if I could find a place to buy books as I need them wholesale  I could offer new books people are looking for . Customer would prepay. I know nothing about this part of the business and I am afraid to try.  I have no savings just living book to book.  Math is not my forte and spelling either as you have seen I am sure. If someone can help me with my thoughts or a place to buy so I can beat Wal-mart. LOL

A couple of weeks ago I got hubby to take me to The Villages here in Florida  a couple of hours south of here.. I got to see and have autographed books by Debbie Macomber. It was so much fun.  Top picture she is signing a book for my sister whos birthday is in December but I sent it to her already I could not wait. You need a bookstore and you are in the Lake City,Florida area we are in the Lake City Flea Market on Saturday and Sundays 7am to 3pm if its a really slow and hot day we might leave at 2:30 Come see us and bring a friend Will be braving the heat all summer so I can be here for your reading enjoyment. I have fans so come on out.

Working together

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Hubby and I worked together today… First we went to Wal-Mart to get some foam lettering. Got two boxes. Came home and started making new signs for my bookstore. Did not have enough R’s so had to go back and get more. We got the last two boxes then he went into another area and found some little ones and they we all different pastel colors so we got those too. Now I have new signs to put up this week.  As you can see from this picture all our signs were made of paper now they are wood and foam letters. Tomorrow we go to Gainesville to doctors to have some skin cancer removed from his left arm.  We will be back before we have gone we are going so early and coming right home..While at Wal-Mart found two books that just came out. I am reading one already by Robyn Carr and the next one is by Linda Lael Miller. I got a coupon in the mail for money off Linda Lael Miller So some one will be able to read it this weekend. Robyn Carr will not get to my store as its promised to someone already who keeps books. Sorry…

Think about

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Writing in here every day… What I do is think and keep doing what I am doing… playing on FB and farming.. Or reading a book.. This morning took my car in to have the oil changed figured even tho it was not 2ooo miles yet it is over a year old heading to two.. LOL… we have two cars… you can see mine gets driven to work and to yard sales and that is it…Have not been to many yard sales as I have so many customers now that trade that I don’t need to go looking for new books very much… But I am going this weekend on Friday as Saturday and Sunday I work my book store at the flea market. I am looking for certain authors lately… But If I find a miso.. boxes for good price , it can be a great adventure.  You can ask me if I buy books and I will tell you no not at this time before I even ask what you have… Don’t give up come back again as it changes from time to time… I am looking for Westerns again.. getting low. Also Lee Childs, Robyn Carr, Stuart Woods, Francine Rivers, Joanna Lindsey, Nora Roberts, Dean Koontz, Diana Palmer, Joan Johnston, Dorothy Garlock.Cassie Edwards.  These are just a couple of the authors its hard for me to keep in stock. In the mail last Saturday I got a news letter from Linda Lael Miller and in it was a coupon for money off her new book coming out on Tuesday(Tomorrow)and Robyn Carr has a new one coming out also. I wish I had room for new books but I am sure I could not do better than Walmart prices. For a gift at Christmas I got a paper with a sign printed on it.. I had asked for a magnetic sign for my car about my book store… I got to check out the sign before it was ordered then at my birthday they gave it to me and my birthday present.. some of my other kids and hubby gave me store stamps so I can stamp my books as I am not readerwave.com any more but “THE BOOK STORE’” at Lake City Flea Market

I do not sell Books for Joe Bullard you can find Waiting for Agnes and Bulita Sam at his website. It was a great run and now I am so busy with my book store I could not keep up…and that would not be fair to him or my customers…..Have a great day see you soon.

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

Good Morning,

We are back from visiting some of our kids for Christmas. Had a wonderful time.. Hubby and I went shopping day after Christmas and stocked up on bags etc for next year.. Have some bags of bows we forgot to leave there so will take when we go again. Have bags left over from last year and this year we are passing on to another daughter. That way they branch out somewhere else .. We did this last year with paper and it worked out great. I get so much ahead with what I buy after the holidays and what the kids sell at school… I sent Christmas cards this year instead of a letter.. I could not get myself going kept thinking Jan is the first month of the year and my Mom passed don’t want to put that at the beginning of a Holiday letter.. So sent cards. Maybe next year I will feel more up to it.

I brought home mags. and books that I required while gone. Not a lot.. we went to the Sunrise Flea Market while there.. spent about three hours looking around.. covered about half of it. Got to see two of my dear friends while there.

Will be opening my book store at the Lake City Flea Market this weekend. I can’t wait.. missed everyone Looking forward to seeing what has happened in a week. Oh and taxes have to do that next week.. so much fun.

I do not sell Waiting for Agnes or Bolita Sam by local author Joe Bullard you can contact him at ybullard@yahoo.com Thanks to everyone who has been nice enough to buy from me the past few years.

Back and Glad to be Here

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

Well we are back at the flea market.. I thought we would never be ready to open.. Took us almost a whole day to set up the book cases and put about 10 boxes of books away.. We would of not got that far if we did not get a surprise of help from my sister in law and her husband. … Friday I spent the entire day putting books away… Yesterday was our first day open and it was slow at first  so I just kept putting stock away… I have so much more room  I will take pictures next week when I have more done… I am keeping a sale table up for the children’s and small books. It use to be on a card table  every other week now it will be up all the time… I will have a Christmas table after I get some more stuff put away. Maybe next week. Have been saving out the holiday books as I run across them.. I have a cute wooden bench by my front door its painted red thought it would make a cute book case for the Christmas books… I have a peg board that I will put the ornament on that I have  been collecting all year.  Well I need to get back to bed as I am getting sleepy.. Come see us and bring your plastic bags and your books…. see you soon.

I don’t have many  Waiting for Agnes left… you can find them at www.readerwave.ecrater.com and www.ebay.com  Only one more week.. or while supplies last.

Preparing

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

This is the time of year I miss being up north. We have changing of the leaves but nothing like my kids or sister get where they are. Saw pictures of Central Park down town New York City yesterday while watching The Early Show. But when they get the colder weather and all the snow I am glad to be here in North Florida where I am cold in two layers but don’t have to put on three or four … I can remember getting wrapped up to go sleding.. I could not move and had so much trouble with the sled, skates etc….

I started playing with making patterns to sew yesterday.. I think I made three sizes before I was happy… Now today I might get busy with cutting out.  Should be quite a feet if I can pull this off.. Been working on some of my books in garage with pricing them in preparation to go back to book store… I am keeping paperbacks at $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, hard covers will be more, priced as marked.( Hard covers will also be 6 for must be the same or lesser value of what you have bought)  I will have children’s book sale and regular price so pricing those ran into a very nice selection . Children’s and Harlequin will be on sale tables every week now. I will have more room…. I will still take trade ins.. a book and .50 for a book.  Hard Cover books will be able to trade for another hard cover  and half of the price of the book.  So if you bring in a hard cover book and want a  hard cover book it will cost you 1 hard cover  and 1/2 the price of the book you want.  (example   $3.00 book will cost you one hard cover and $1.50

Waiting for Agnes by local author Joe Bullard is waiting for you not many left down to 12.  find it at www.amazon.com www.ebay.com www.readerwave.ecrater.com and www.readerwave.com  On www.readerwave.ecrater.com you can also find dolls, stuffed animals, a antique cradle, LeapPad items, books,

Books and Store

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Yesterday was a busy and not so productive day.  Went to Walmart and took some things back. Bought some hooks for hanging up new sheets for my store. They did not have the ones we wanted so Hubby has gone to Home Depot this morning to get some and mulch to match what the neighbor put down last weekend.  I have started wash.  Went to find out where I have to sign up for retirement check from State and did not go to the right place.. Came home and went on line.  Decided I better get my birth certificate out and went to the place where I thought it was. Not there. So Hubby and I started a search .. Decided after an hour or more to order a new one. so went on line  Then they decided they needed more info and I had to call them.. Never got to them.. had me on hold for over and hour. Guess I will try again today.

While at Walmart of course I bought a book and I am reading Jodi Thomas I never find very many books by her. I have also been looking for large print books… I finally found some on eBay. But would love to find them locally.  We went to the flea market indoor and out up in Lake Park, Ga Sunday.  The outdoor had a book person who also sells plants. He lets people trade books for plants.  He charges $2.00 for most books and sets can be as High as $6.00… Boy am I cheap. No wonder my Ga customers come down here. The only things I am going to change some prices on are my hard cover table.. Going back to the prices they are marked. I will have a new children’s section of the $1.00 or more books found some really nice books while out. Hope to have a holiday section some times late November.  Working on getting items will depend on what I find.  I may put out some of the dolls depending on how much room I have.  Will have some more LeapPad items some from before and some newer. You will have to come see us Starting back November 13th. I am ready now but the fair has not come and gone yet.  Had a really good time this weekend.

Don’t forget I still have a few copys of Waiting for Agnes by local Author Joe Bullard you can find it at www.amazon.com www.ebay.com and www.readerwave.ecrater.com  also I have shotglasses at www.shotglassheaven.ecrater.com   Then of course I have some books, dolls,LeapPad at www.readerwave.ecrater.com
