Bad Blog in Pain

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

What a day. Made several doctor office calls.. I had hoped when I started this process a month ago that it would be done by now and I would be ready for when the need came up.. Oh well I was wrong.  Yesterday my leg and knee started hurting and nothing seems to help it stop. I need shots.. and I have to wait two weeks to see the new doctor and then may have to have test before the real action takes place.. I hate looking for new doctors.

Weekend was good. Sunday was slow but I got a lot of work done.. I am reading a Emily March right now her newest. I like it but I am in so much pain that I keep putting it down, and getting up to walk out the stiffness.

Tomorrow is my Birthday daughter and family came up this weekend and we went to a Japanese restaurant in Gainesville Can’t member the name started with a M and it was on the same turn off I-75 as Target and across the street is Burger King with a street beside it and the restaurant is on that street.

Authors and Dogs

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

This has been some week.  I have been helping my husband find my Birthday present. No luck so far. Its a week from today. I went and sat with him on the back porch and told him not to worry I would not get upset if we did not find what I want.  We are looking for a cocker spaniel dog, fem, black, brown and white.  I would love to find one at a shelter but there are none in the area or even east coast of Florida.. Even looked in lower Georgia.  This is what I want and I am willing to wait. Have not seen anything else that I like.  I even named her B B MA after my fav author Debbie Macomber. www.debbiemacomber.com

This week I am reading new authors to me that were suggested by other authors I follow on facebook. I am known as me on facebook  Dona Hopkins West in case you want to follow. I finished KAKI  WARNER’S PIECES OF SKY waiting for the next book to come in the mail OPEN COUNTRY. Yesterday I got a email from Kaki Warner saying I have won a contest and I will be getting a signed book in the mail real soon.. How cool is that. She lives in Washington State as does my fav author Debbie Macomber  you can look her up at www.kakiwarner.com  you can follower her on facebook also. Now I am reading another new author to me SARA LUCK  readingSUSANNA’S CHOICE  both authors write about the early west.  No indians but lots of wagon trains, gold rushes and romance.

I started selling on eBay last week selling shot glasses and postcards. Did not do very well so I think today will be my last day. I can’t see not making my money back and going to all the work for not.

Hope to see you all this weekend at the Lake City Flea Market. Some of the kids and grandkids are coming up this weekend can’t wait and in a week or two some more.

Happy Birthday Dad we miss you so much. Think of you and Mother often.

Hubby just came in with the mail my book I ordered OPEN COUNTRY BY KAKI WARNER just came. I got a birthday card from my far away daughter and a doctor reminder.. I made it on my Birthday so I can have lunch in Gainsville. So the day is shaping up.

Have a great weekend my friends and I hope someone reads and likes this blog.

Great Weekend

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

pretty good weekend. Found  a customer helping out his wife look for books..He was in the Historical Romance section. He even came up to me and asked if I had B. Smith before he began looking .. So unlike a man. I like him so much for asking and helping his wife I asked if I could take his picture for my blog today and he said yes. How great is that three wonderful in a row. Next thing I will learn is to turn camera or learn to turn picture.  LOL

I have been busy working on my eBay inserts.. Two come out this hour. I need to work on my postage I think I am charging the wrong fee’s I will get it right by next week. Postage goes up this week. So if you don’t have the everything stamp your postage will be going up. And if you have regular stamps you will be heading to the post office to get more..

I had a facetime chat with my daughter the other day she helped me fix up this blog so it went out on twitter and then to Facebook without me sending it. How great is that.. I hope you are following up and will let me know what you think of my store here in Lake City,Florida and my items on eBay. and of course this blog.

I think I told all of you I am looking for a female cocker spaniel, she will be black and white or even have a little brown in her ..  I will name her B B MA after on of my favorite authors Debbie MAcomber  the A is long  and B is like the letter … I am hoping to get her by my birthday so you all have a few weeks to find her .. House broke would be fine …LOL…

Have a great day and talk to you soon I will not promise to get back to every day but will try at least twice a week…

Books and The Weekend

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

Today started out chilly, I wore a jacket with a fur lining and a hat with ears. I was nice and warm but I did look more weird that usual.  Had lots of customers and that was nice.  I need some more customers to bring me some newer books.  I need the Bride Quartet From Nora Roberts.  I need some newer Lee Childs, Stuart Woods, etc.

I have put a few things on Ebay this week.. postcards, shot glasses, and a book.  I put them under auction. ewest13 seller.  I don’t have a store on Ebay at the moment.  Sounds like it costs more than I make right now.

My daughter (weatherangel, kitty code) and I were on spacetime yesterday it was fun she was helping me up date my blog and eBay.  Now I can do it all myself again after she fixed it up.  she is  real good to me..

My granddaughter in Va had to brave the ice storm to go to a college audition this morning.  I hope she did ok.. She has several others.. She is studying music.

I have decided I want a cocker spaniel her name will be B B MA        Look at my favorite authors name and you will see how I came up with this name   Debbie Macomber

I have started reading Kaki Warner she is a new author to me. I am in the first 22 pages and its about 1800′s early west its got my attention.

Catching Up

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

I am tired already and its a little after 8.  The past two days we have been packing boxes of books over 400.boxes that is… approx. 28 books to a box.. that is just the regular size paperbacks. That is not covering all the publix and fresh express boxes that have hard cover and larger paperbacks..We have all these and bookcases stored in our garage. There is a winding path so we can get in the house. I hope I don’t need to get my riding chair out before next month. we will have to go thought the front door with it.. LoL.  Hubby is out in the garage moving things around so he can take several older smaller bookcases apart and use the sides to make new one that match the new ones he made last year.  I have all my signage both paper and wood in the office here so I can go over them and make new ones were needed.  Have my sheets washing that we use as the closer on the front .. Man was they dirty… Then have to wash the fabric that i put over the front of the tables to hide the boxes under

The outside of our house is almost all painted they will be done today. Looks really nice. So glad we had a new neighbor move in who is a painter.

Reading have been reading up a storm read the third book of Susan Mallory from her Only series, Just finished the last book of Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series. I like the one I read just before this one the best 1105 Yakama Street, Now I am reading Linda Leal Millers Christmas book. This one I am having a hard time with I keep feeling I have read it before.

Whats in a change

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

This week we are doing lots of things. Hubby has gotten it in his head that we will (he will) change the front yard a little .. Looks like a lot to me.. We have baby birds in the vine by our living room window so we have been talking about how to change that area with out messing with the birds so they will come back next year.  There is a small pond that he has to clean out all the time. He hates that. So we have gotten a bird bath that is like a fountain. Its cute and stays a dark color so we won’t have to clean so often. There is a rose-bush there that we are going to get rid of or put in a pot and give away. (I hate to get rid of things.) We have a white and a red double hibiscus that we are going to put in its place and one other plant.. The vine will be trimmed and left to go back. We have a flag pole at the end of our garage by the front walk. We leave the flag up all the time so it must have light at all times. There is a light mounted on the gutters on the roof and it is as I am writing going in a box for friends to sell at Flea Market. Hubby found a new solar one that he is putting up. And yesterday found the cutest solar stand up pegs with a butterfly on it that changes 4 colors. He also put new lights along the walk. I looked out last night and it was so pretty.  Can’t wait for the baby birds to fly so we can start the changes in the middle of the yard.  Holidays with presents kids are always asking for idea’s for Dad and I ..Well I came up with a new American and Navy flag for Dad. Well they got it but I guess I did not give them measurements and they did not ask but the Navy flag is bigger than the flag we have so he is thinking of putting in another pole then each flag will have its own pole. Now alls we need is the state flag and we will look like a county building… OMG.

I have been reading, still reading Judith Arnold as it has three books in one I am on the second one.  Tomorrow we are going to the flea market and do some book work. I want to take the two front tables and change out the books. Will bring home the ones that are on it now as their are only a couple of months left before I have to start bringing home books anyways so why not bring these home as I won’t be changing out again anytime soon.  The back table on the left side I have changed out that last weekend and put hard covers there of women writers any kind does not matter .. Then the other side that had all kinds I am making it just mens.

Have a great day and do a good dead.. You can also make a comment so I don’t feel so alone… LOL…Oh ya I change the front of this blog got bored …

Summer Reading

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

I wish I could say I love Summer reading better than anything. When it really is no different from any other time. Being Retired and being home most of the time, really makes Summer no different from Winter. Unless you countwinter holidays when we go to see kids a day here or there. Oh I live in Florida. It gets chilly hear but nothing like my familys in the North.

Now reading is great its one of the great fun things I do. If you can read you can travel from your recliner or rocking chair. I have been all over the world. The first book I remember as an Adult is the Born series by Nora Roberts. My very first book other than baby’s story books which I don’t remember.  was Tom Sawyer. But I was not caught yet. I use to watch my mother and my sister enjoy books but I just could not get into it. Was high school before I caught the bug ..

Summer reading to me is the time I put my self in a place where I try new things. Last year I was ready authors with trilogy’s about towns. I found Robyn Carr last year and Virgin River. Now I can’t keep her in my store (have a used book store). I am waiting for the next one to come out .  This year I am reading authors that another author has told me about on Facebook.  I follow a few of my fav. authors on FB.  This summer I have found Judith Arnold, I am now reading the second book and this one has three in it. I have had this book on my shelves for several years I don’t know why its great. Some one should have know how good she is besides me. I am reading “Father Knows Best”,Next I am going on to another author I just started reading Elin Hilderbrand, I read “the blue bistro”last week. I will be reading after I finish FKB ”A Summer Affair”, found it yesterday at a Library sale. Just by chance went to see what they had on sale in the used section and found a big sale.. So grabbed a bunch for my bookstore and this one for me first. Next I will read “The Search” by Nora Roberts want to finish this one before the end of the month as I will be visiting my family in Virginia which is about an hour from Williamsburg,Maryland where Nora and family have their bookstore.  Have been there a couple of times very nice. There are many business that she and her husband own there. One is the hotel that they opened last year. I hear its very busy.  well back to summer reading

June started me off with Emily March”Eterity Springs trilogy”(Angel’s Rest, Hummingbird Lake,Heartache Falls) 4****  Then on to Barbara Freethy Suddenly One Summer, On Shadow Beach, and At Hidden Falls. This is a Chesapeake Bay Trilogy. Then some authors I have been reading right along Linda Lael Miller’s Creed’s Honor, Debbie Macombers “A Turn in the Road”, Nora Roberts “Chasing Fire”

I have several books ready to take with me while I visit with daughter and family Julie Ortolon’s Pearl Island Trilogy  and Griffin’s Daughter by Leslie Ann Moore.

Been a slow summer for my bookstore. have not been buying many books been relying on trade-ins.  Some authors that I never get back to reuse are Robyn Carr, Lee Child, Stewart Woods, Joan Johnston just to name a couple

Will try to write more often …

Remember I do not sell Waiting for Agnes anymore you can get it from the author,Joe Bullard.
