Catch up not Katsup

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Doing a lot of clean up this week.. Have all the boxes of books done… Now I have 6 boxes of books that are going to the flee market with me this weekend… I am going to have them on a big sale to make room for some newer books… Hope you will come out and see us… Gene and I are going to Home Depot to look for ways to post signs better than just poster boards…

Next week going to start listing more books to eCRATER… Have some new and some almost new… Need to take pictures and get back in the groove… If you have a favorite author please let me know…email me at readerwave@bellsouth.net   books at www.readerwave.ecrater.com

I need to get back to doing some constructive work…Now just playing games on computer and reading.. Though it has relaxed me more than I was so that is good… I rode my bike yesterday.. Not as far as I wanted to but its a start… Well need to get something done I guess first will be to start laundry and take a shower… then I can take Gene with me to Home Depot.. Then to Walmart again if need be. I don’t need to go to grocery store I like to get several days at one time.. unlike Gene who likes to go everyday.. I have a tendency to spend to much that way.. Feel I have to have things in my basket… so I over buy and then over spend.

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Who is your fav. author?  Are you one of my flee market people.. I need to know who you are looking for.  I am trying to make my boxes reflect what you are looking for…

I am having a sale starting this weekend to weed out some of my books that have been around for a very long time… This will free up my boxes and give me more room for newer stuff also put some change in my pocket to get more with…

I am still taking trade ins…  one book and .50  for a book… or my books are 1.00  Not such a bad price..

I really don’t have much to say today… I am still taking care of hubby… Tomorrow will be one week sence he had his surgery… He is getting better all the time..

In Store Coupons

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

In store coupons … what good are they when the cashier or I don’t look for them… I used to tair them off when I got the food.. One cashier told me I was not suppose to do that… So I stopped… Now I forget if I don’t have it on my mind at the time of check out .. And the cashier is trying to get you out of her line so she does not look… Lloyd’s barbeque has a $2.00 coupon and it get forgot every time… I come home and go to put it away and you here a four letter word starting with s or f….come out my mouth… Then hubby gets in on the act and proceeds to tell me they do that on purpose (Lloyd’s) that is… In my case its something I buy anyway so I am not loosing the money because I was getting it just for that… OK I have had my rant….

This week I am spending my time at the table I am going to set up in the garage and put my flee market books by author and categories as much as I can……..Oh —-  for got to ask for strawberry boxes while at the supermarket…. I guess I need to make a list for tomorrow…

Goodbye Amazon and eBay

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Due to rising cost and changing polices.. Amazon and eBay have seen the last of my books.. I sell well on both. But I have to pay such high fees that I can’t price my books at the cost I want to give my customers.  I have been selling one book on both sites and its not worth it anymore.. Amazon has a new policy that I have to send the book or item to the customer before they pay me.  Then if there is a problem I have to fight to get my money.. I dropped them the minute I read that.. Also they charge $5.99 for selling so I have to price things way up to get my money and authors money out of it..  eBay is raising and raising there prices… I am just a simple store who does a few products a week… I am not one of there high end sellers… I do this to please the customer and myself.  If I had to make a living at it. Never happen.. I sell to low…

My dream is to have my own bookstore someday… I have seen what I want to do from several others I know of. It can be done.. I just need capital and a good head start… So its my dream… and a good one.

Any ways I am on eCRATER.  The price and location is just right for me and my book store. I also have a shot glass store…. www.readerwave.ecrater.com      www.shotglassheaven.ecrater.com

Forget

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Today is Mothers 88th birthday… I gave her the present weeks ago as I got a new chain for a item she had me take to be repaired and the chain was all tarnished … She asked me when I was going to get it back and I knew I had to give it to her early…. I left a card out for her to find this morning… I had planned on being up as I usually am when she got up .. But I wasn’t… So glad I had the card out for her… She is now listening to one of her talking books… She loves them…I have yarn to give her at dinner time as another present… She is using up her old stuff right now.. I have some Ilene gave me for her from the girls and some I bought her..She will have plenty…I wanted to find her some long pants but can’t seem to find legs wide enough.. her knee’s are bad and she wants some that don’t bind the knee when she sits…

She lost another one of her cousins this week.. There are not many left.. And some of them have lost children my age.. It really get you to thinking about life… I hope some of them remember her today as well as our kids… I am not telling anyone to see who remembers… No matter how busy you are you should not forget your grandma or great grandma…

Cleaning drawers

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Today is about getting drawers cleaned out and getting ready for our yard sale this weekend… I have one done and then my husband who had surgery yesterday came in to lay down.. So I finished the one I was one and moved out to start the blog… Its all about his comfort today…. If I don’t get dressed because I have to run the shower and sit on the bed to dress that is ok.. I have several drawers in the dresser I was working on and another dresser in our closet that has odds and ends… The truly hard part will be the attic.. I don’t climb ladders… This stuff just may have to wait till next time…

We have a computer works good.. we just decided to get a newer model.  A push wheel chair.. we got a lighter weight one to go in car. And books…. Lots of books.. and very inexpensive… Movies, puzzles and lots of odds and ends…

I went around the neighborhood and told them about my sale and invited others to join me…  I had one lady call and say she was going to….

Have a great day… Mine will be busy.. I don’t have to go out for anything so I can concentrate on home… and taking care of hubby.

New Idea

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

My head is so full of idea’s for making my Flee Market experience easier… I have a bad back and the boxes of books that I take are heavy after a while and strain my back.. We did come up with loading van put three boxes on top of each other and use a hoe to push them back and make three rows of three which is good except the carpet gets in the way sometimes..(can’t remove as we need it there when we have the seats down in place)  I have several boxes that are odd shapes I am going to work on getting them all the same sizes…Also I am going to work on getting the authors together. Have been doing that a little each week…

Books I need to find are christian books and westerns… both are hard to find. I have people all the time asking me for them.. I have some christian but need something different for the same customers I always have…

The next thing I am looking into is making another idea to put more boxes in the same spaces … I think I have come up with an idea take and put one box on table and another slanted  upright behind it.. I want to try one first before I go through this whole process. I am not sure the table are wide enough to support that style…  Then if this works I will hire one of the kids out there to help me set up and take down. And pray I make some money at it… I have not done so bad so far…

I charge $1.00 a book or $.50 and a trade in…. I need to make a better sign for this also…. I am using poster board and its getting beat up with the weather…. (early morning damp)….

Also if I can do ok at this my husband says I can get a car or truck for myself… I can leave my boxes in this and not have to take them in and out of the garage that takes away two strains on my back.. I would love to get one of those mail trucks…Its not to far back like my van and it is heavy enough to hold the weight.  Could use it to go yard sailing (I know wrong word but you get the idea) in also…  Keep your eyes open for me….

If you are reading this and go to the flee market in Lake City,Florida and you have an author you want to see or a certain book.(not new) let me know…  Please leave me suggestions and comments …. would love to hear your take on what I have written.

Good Night Guiding Light

Friday, September 18th, 2009

72 yrs is a very long time for a soap opera with raido and tv… I got back to the early 70s… I might of seen some of it before that not so sure as I was young… I watched as much as I could.. I remember Alan when Phillip was young and he did not know that Ross was his real father… He was just as bad then as he was up till a weekago… I remember Mindy, Phillip,Beth, and Mindy as school friends.. The only part of the ending I did not like is Riva did not get her husband back… The year later ending was great… Helped put and ending to everything… I will really miss that show

Last Kiss by Luanne Rice

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

What a read.. Just finished “Last Kiss” by Luanne Rice… Surprises at every turn…

For nearly a year after the tragedy that claimed her teenage son, Charlie, Sheridan Rosslare has lived a quiet life on Hubbard’s Point, tucked away in the beach house where they spent their happiest days.  But Charlie’s girlfriend, Nell Kilvert, is determined to find out what really happened on the night none of them will ever forget.  She summons the one man she believes can uncover the truth.  Gavin Dawson, who long ago thought he would always be at Sheridan’s side.  Now his boat sits anchored within sight of the window of the woman he once loved and still loves.  Both of them had believed in the power of love and forgiveness, connection and reconnection, to work magic.  They thought they’d lost that faith forever.  Can they find it one last time.

Is it true that old love never dies, that hearts can mend that a secret revealed can change everything?

I personally believe that it can. This book kept me going and going… Its longer than some I have read lately and I did not have the time that I wanted to spend hours reading.. So it took me a week to read.. Oh but so worth the time… When is it ever a “Last Kiss”

You will be-able to find this book on my online store after this week. www.readerwave.ecrater.com

contact author Luanne Rice at her website www.luannerice.com
