Gene made today

Gene made today

Today started off differently… Had to go to doctor for a visit as he just had to refill my thyroid meds… I don’t have one had removed several years ago as it had a spot of cancer. Anyways find out tomorrow about blood work…
Sence I got home read emails and feedbacks (eBay) Had a nice one from a customer who bought “Waiting for Agnes”. I went and wrote this person a email and asked them to come on here and give a review… Hope he or she does….
Then I went on to eCRATER and put in books for Iris Johnansen, who I had started doing yesterday. Then went on to do Catherine Anderson.. And its so funny I had got a newsletter from her today.. She not only has a webpage at www.catherineanderson.com she is on myspace, twitter, and Facebook… I can’t tell you about these so if you have been to any of these places let me know.
I will be spending time on eBay this afternoon doing odds and ends putting more books in taking books off the shelf that didn’t sell in the last year or so.. Getting ready for my yard sale in three weeks… and I might even go on craigslist and look around…
Gene went and bought another tool so he can make a larger vase for my wooden roses… Its going to be out of cedar… I would love to get him wood from all over the US for his birthday.. I thought of the idea last year but did not get it done.
This afternoon while I was putting books in eBay and eCRATER and taking pictures of the one I want to put in eCRATER tomorrow. Gene was our working on a vase made of cedar to go with the wood roses he Bought me last Friday at the street Fest here in LC..

How my stores run……

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

eBay has been making a lot of changes over the past year, that have made me change some of the ways I do things… Previously, I sold Harlequin and other small books on eBay at a really low price. I can’t do that any more as they won’t let you sell under 1.00, as well as only taking credit cards and PayPal.

I have started working with eCRATER because they let me sell at the price I want,  I can put as many categories as I want, with as many books in each as I like. They also allow for money orders as well as PayPal.. They also have other ways to pay but I have not gotten into that yet.

In eBay, I try to put my better books since I have to charge more, but if you are a returning customer, I tend to send books to you that are as good or better than you are thinking… My goal is to make my customers happy…
In eCRATER, I am able to sell for less, and ship for less because I pay less to list. I try to pass that savings on to my customers. I am also able to give almost instant rebates when you buy more than one book at a time.  As soon as you pay by PayPal, I will send you a rebate right back for the extra shipping you would have otherwise paid for each single book. The books are as good as my books on eBay or might have a few more lines but nothing I would avoid putting in my living room for people to see when they come over.

Monday blues are not here with me today… And I don’t think I am waisting time… That is part of the three things I wrote to look at each day. Last year I read in Guidepost that I should write three things down and think about them each day.
1. Stop waisting time
2. Stop being a moody down person
3. Figure out if my book store is keepable in 2010 (well if things remain the same its not)
waisting time.. I have rentered shot glasses on eBay this morning. and fixed the shipping prices..
Put several authors that don’t sell well in my yard sale box. I have not even started on my new books or historical… I am running out of room to store the books in different places..
Ilene (my daughter) set me up with google analytics so I can see that people are looking at my sights but are just not buying.. I wish I knew why so I could make them happy.
You know that song from the Partridge Family “Come on get happy” or something like that…

Christmas would't be the same with out a Debbie Macomber book

Christmas would't be the same with out a Debbie Macomber book

There are many books and authors which I read but one stands out…Debbie Macomber, her books are about family, friends, and life.. My favorite series, which she is still writing after 10 yrs is Cedar Cove. In the series, the books are named after streets in the town, and book number 7, has a picture of the authors’ home on the cover. I try to carry the series in my book stores readerwave.com but they are hard to keep on hand. One book or the other I can’t find at one time… I think the hardest one for me to find most of the time is 311 Pelican Ave… don’t know why… I have read this series from start to finish seveal times. New book #10 will be coming out in September… Right now Debbie is at the Mall of America signing books… I wish I could be there, but I am there in spirt… The only new Debbie Macomber book I have for sale right now is a wonderful book called “A Cedar Cove Christmas” on my eCRATER site.

Used books: I have over 51 different ones on eCRATER, where they sell for less and you get a rebate after buying two books.

Other authors I just bought yesterday, Fern Michaels, Linda Lael Miller, and Robyn Carr. Could not find Kate Caslisle “Homicide in HardCover” this is a first time author and from the little I have read the book sounds like something I would like to read and sell. We do not have a book store in our town that sells new books, just Walmart, drugstores, and grocery stores.. Since my birthday was last weekend, I can’t expect any new books till Christmas… I see a trip to Gainsville in my future… unless some one takes pity on me and sends me a copy.. I have a friend in Hollywood, Fl. (Second Edition) who sells new and used books and I passed the information on to her.

The Rambler…

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Was listing of books in eBay yesterday all day. Mostly action aventure. Then I worked on certain authors where I have a lot of one person. I have these books in another place.. I worked on Susan Wiggs, I will get Sherryl Woods and a few others… Alot of my books I listed last year I will be offering in a yard sale so I can have funds to go looking with and free up some space in my small room…

My step-daughter is coming today for the weekend.. It will take her all day to get here so will put good use to the day and get lots of listing done… I am not getting a lot of sales in my stores I wonder how other people are doing…. there is no way for me to tell if anyone is even reading my blog… Well I am off to another book……… You know this blog should be known as the rambler as that is how I talk…. I travel back and forth from one subject to another and back again. My thoughts never stay at the same thing till its done….

Finding new author and website

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Today I have been working on my eBay website, found a book for an author (Ace Atkins) that I had no idea who he was.. I did a google found out he worked for a newpaper here in Florida at one time and is a native of AL as my husband is… I will have to read one of his books to see how I like it… We have “Dark End Of The Street” ready to go on our website.
Next week after family goes home will get back to putting Harliquin in my eCRATER site. I just bought a whole mess of them from one of my contacts.
My daughter told me to join as many blogs etc as I see interests me.. Well at eCRATER they have a lounge and its got word games… I have been having fun with… and I have been looking at the websites of the other blogers.. One I found fun to look at was www.TyreeTrading.ecrater.com On this site they sell postcards… As my mother used to save them it was fun to look at… Maybe the person who runs this store will come and tell us about it..
Time to go to post office, grocery store, and nail salon(must make apt for Mother to get a pedicure).. Then start cleaning house for my step-daughter to come up on Thursday.. Can’t wait we are going to a war inactment..Then to dinner with family on Saturday night…. should be fun…

Saving for others

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

I was just cutting out coupons I got off the internet to send to a lady in Iowa. She sends store coupons overseas to our servicemen and woman. She has many friends who help her. You can read the articale I saw at americanprofile.com
I try to send an envelope full every week has not been hard … This week there were none in my hometown paper, so went on line to Betty Crocker…

Then I got to thinking how many things do I save…..for something or someone.

Plastic bags to take back to my gocery store.

Coke.com has a place you can buy stuff with the codes of the caps or boxes… Well last year and the year before I gave those totaled amounts to Toys For Tots… That coke offered to do….

Boxtops for Education… Have been saving them for years for my children and now my grandchildren… so easy when you get the items anyways even my 87 year old mother hands me the packaging from her items so I can cut out the coupon…
What do you save that I could be doing….
I do not save cans and I should… we have to pay for the truck to come and pick it up and sometimes I see they leave our neighbors.
